PHIL SCHUMACHER
Phil grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and spent most of his early years in Music City. After attending The University of Tennessee for two years, he transferred to San Diego State University and never looked back.
While attending school in San Diego, he got his start in the hospitality industry at the age of 20. He has done every job under the sun in this industry and understands the ins and outs for each department. Over the course of his career, Phil has earned a reputation as an all-encompassing, adaptable, quantifiable specialist in food and beverage.
The first major project Phil was involved in was at The Wavehouse San Diego. This 2,500-capacity outdoor venue sat directly on the boardwalk in Mission Beach and was one of the first in the city to produce large scale, DJ-driven entertainment. It hosted the likes of Skrillex, Dada Life, AfroJack, and Calvin Harris, just to name a few.
From there, Phil saw his career transition into the nightclubs of Downtown San Diego. His most decorated accomplishment was opening FLUXX Nightclub in 2010. FLUXX earned countless awards during it’s time on 4th and Island including winning “Best New Nightclub in the Country” during its first year. It was a top 25 revenue producing nightclub, ranking amongst the best of Las Vegas, Miami, and New York City.
While managing FLUXX, Phil partnered with the owner to create their own Consulting Brand, Pick 3 Hospitality. They offered various services and specialized in assisting struggling restaurants to get back on their feet. With every client, Pick 3 took a dedicated approach to understanding their vision and brand by uncovering how their business operates.
During Phil’s 12 years in America’s Finest City, he found himself wanting a change and traveled to South Florida to follow a perspective opportunity opening Adoré Nightclub in Miami Beach. He also had a brief stint with SBE at Hyde Arena and Hyde Beach at SLS before returning to San Diego. Upon his return, he assisted on the opening of Omnia Nightclub San Diego, and operated venues inside of The Hard Rock San Diego.
Phil’s Las Vegas career started shortly after departing South Florida, when he received a call from Jason Craig. The first venue they opened together was Apex Social Club inside of the new Palms Hotel. From there he went to become General Manager at Clique Bar & Lounge and The Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails inside of The Cosmopolitan.
Fast forward a few years, Phil then went to become General Manager of Elia Beachclub inside The Virgin Hotels, alongside managing partners Jason Craig and Michael Fuller.
With a proven track record for success and unparalleled expertise, Phil Schumacher is the kind of leader that blazes new trails and achieves new heights.
